Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Are Coming!

I’VE become a regular reader of a young Lebanese professional’s blog called 2:48AM. He lives in Kuwait and blogs under the name of Mark. He shares the blog with his partner Nat, but he does most of the blogging. From waiting for his new MacBook to arrive, to his troubles with getting his Showtime disconnected, Mark is always fun to read.

One of his posts on Go Nuts Donuts, a Philippine chain of donut shops that has opened a branch in Kuwait, reminded me of how much I love Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Lucky for me, I read on Mark’s blog that Americana, the huge Kuwait-based fastfood franchise owner (Pizza Hut, Hardees and Kentucky Fried Chicken among others) has gotten the exclusive franchise for KK doughnuts in the Gulf.

According to this press release from last May, Americana will open its first KK outlet this September in Kuwait, with a total of 100 locations across the Gulf (including Saudi Arabia) by 2011.

According to the Krispy Kreme website, each plain, glazed KK doughnut has 200 calories and 12 grams of fat (of which 4 grams are trans fat, the really bad fat we are supposed to avoid.)

I sure hope they open a KK branch in Jeddah soon…I can’t stand the doughnuts at American Corner or Dunkin Donuts.

More fat asses around the world as US spreads sugar and oil fast food franchises around the world. Are people endlessly stupid about what they eat around the world??

I currently have the record for most blog page visits. You could make the record plus one, thus beating my own record!

Oh yea, doughnuts are good.

Jeez, don't you Yanks ever get enough of fat? What the heck is it; if it's bad for ya, you gotta have it. Then again, if it's not blogged arteries then it's slug from the handgun. :)

I like Krispy Kreme doughnuts and
Dunkin donuts coffee. Ya gotta
admit, Dunkin donuts has got the
best tasteing coffee.
I was diagnosed with diabetes two
months ago, so now I can only have
one doughnut once a week. I know
it sounds like a doctors perscription, it kind of is, because thats what my doctor said I can do. I usually pick the most
decadent doughnut avalible. Like a
choclate covered cream filled doughnut Yum! Yum!

i'm afraid i'm going to have to disagree re: krispy kreme v dunkin donuts. this is a dispute as old as time but the short of it is that dunkin donuts are far superior in every way.

the conflict between DD and KK dates back to the far mists of american popular culture, before the east and west coast learned to live together in peace and harmony. KK chooses style over substance while DD has remained true to the spirit of what these fried round sweet things are supposed to be.
