Seen on the streets of Abu Dhabi....

JUST A few weeks ago I was startled to see the car pictured above on the street in front of Abu Dhabi Media Company where I work at The National. Luckily I had my trusty Nokia N82 cellphone with me, with its 5-megapixel camera, so it was easy to take some high-quality pictures.

The cool thing about this narrow, three-wheeled vehicle is that it moves just like a motorcycle when it turns corners. The only drawback is that only one person can fit in it plus a small bag.

According to this article, this car is called Clever (for compact low emission vehicle for urban transport), that is has been developed jointly by BMW and the European Union. It will cost around $10,000 and does an amazing 100 kilometers on only 2.17 liters of fuel. It can also reach a maximum speed of 100 kph. According to it’s own website it runs on natural gas and not gasoline, which should make it cheaper to operate.

According to the University of Bath in the UK, which helped develop it, it is only 1 meter wide (just over three feet), which is three feet less than a medium sized conventional car. This is supposed to make it extra easy to park and drive through congested, urban areas.

I wanted to clear something up. The car is not a clever but Carver. They are the originals. The clever is not in production yet i believe and it is the question if ever.

Actualy my old neighbour developed this car. I have driven it and it's a lot of fun. There ofice is located in my vilage in the Netherlands.
